Curatorial Rationale

  • What media do you work with? What interests you about work of this type?

In my work, I am always trying to find the relationship between installation and light, and I like to experiment with many works that can help me express myself by changing the meaning through light and installation.

  • What themes, concerns and ideas have you have explored in this work?

In the creation of my works, I found that I like to convey some warm and positive contents in my works, such as some small details that I overlooked in my life, or some beautiful things in my family, which help me to express my works better.

  • Is there a relationship between the media you use and the ideas that you work with?

Most of the time, I decide which Media I would like to use based on the theme. But since I am a big fan of light, because I was afraid of dark places when I was little, it led me to be interested in all kinds of beautiful light, so even when I am faced with a different theme, I always associate ideas with light.

  • What outside interests, artists, encounters or experiences have influenced your work?

Since I grew up very afraid of the dark environment, so it is extraordinarily for very bright places very good feeling. Later, after I had a sense of autonomy, I began to like a lot of shiny things, such as: in the display case of crystal and diamond jewelry, hanging in the ceiling of the hotel crystal lights, and even some reflective glass I am very interested. Then I started to be interested in all kinds of works that use light, and it is these different things that have led to my current creative style.

  • What ties your individual pieces of work together into a cohesive body of work?

Most of my works are connected with some knowledge related to the occult, because China is a country without religion and everyone has the right to learn something that interests them without fear of being discriminated by others, so I started to use the occult and light that I am interested in to connect each of my works.

  • Is there an ‘intention' behind the work; what do you want the work to achieve?

I hope that through my works, I can bring some light and reflection to others' lives, because although my themes are all different, I still hope they can make people better aware of some problems in life, and then through the combination with light to tell people that all problems will have a light shining to it, and always have the hope to solve everything. Or directly convey the beauty of life in the work.

  • How do you want your audience to experience it? & How have your methods of display (how the work is arranged and presented) contributed to the viewer's experience? & What is your vision for presenting this body of work (imagine you could have any ossible space or display method)?

In my final show, I hope to have a purely black room to show all my works, so that the audience can see my works in the dark, because most of my works are related to light, so I hope my audience can feel that even in the dark, there is still a little bit of starlight to accompany us.
